Stunning debut for new Works Racing 4LS front brake at Pembrey.
This weekend saw a dozen or so Works-powered bikes compete in the 2016 CRMC season opener at Pembrey in Wales. Three days of testing and racing went ahead unhindered by shocking weather conditions.
Glen English is once again riding for the Works (now SCC-Works) team in the Bonhams Lansdowne British GP Championship. The team has a new backer following a tie-up with Specialised Compliant Coatings of Milton Keynes, a company that specialises in refurbishment within the rail industry. We are very grateful for their support.
Glen led all four races at some point and ended the weekend with a win, two seconds and a fourth. He enjoyed some great racing with fellow Works-powered rider Mike Russell (Richard Adams Racing) who collected two wins himself. The two bikes and riders looked very evenly matched, which made for some great spectating.
Following testing and development over the winter, Glen’s bike, and that of Steve Jordan (another Works-powered front runner) were fitted with new Works designed and manufactured four leading shoe front brakes. These are an exact recreation of the brake Norton introduced for 1962, the final year of Manx production. Externally identical to the Norton unit, the brake features many small detail improvements internally, all aimed at improving performance and durability. These certainly seemed to work under wet and dry race conditions as both Glen and Steve said the brake’s performance was exceptional. The brake will now go into production with all parts made in-house; we aim to keep them in stock for immediate delivery from May onwards. Watch the web site for detailed photographs and further updates on prices and availability.
The next outing for SCC-Works Racing is Cadwell Park on the 16th and 17th May.
